PHOENIX — Police took a suspect into custody after a Phoenix Fire Department ambulance was stolen Tuesday afternoon and crashed into other moving vehicles, 12News reported.

Police allege that the woman they arrested took the ambulance from HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center and drove three miles north on Cave Creek Road before crashing.

One of the unsuspecting drivers involved in the crash was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Phoenix Fire Captain Todd Keller said that the situation could have been much worse considering how busy the intersection was.

“Very lucky outcome with how many vehicles were involved,” he said.

The ambulance itself was severely damaged.

Authorities are investigating.
