ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A woman was killed and three others hurt after a car failed to yield to a traffic signal and crashed into an ambulance.

An AMR ambulance with its lights on was crossing an intersection on the way to a call when a car driven by 19-year-old Jamila Evans crashed into it, 10 News WHEC reported.

Police say Evans failed to yield to a flashing red traffic signal before the crash. A woman riding with Evans was killed and police identified her as 23-year-old Autumn Johnson. Another woman was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Two AMR employees were transported to the hospital and released with minor injuries.

Evans was charged with driving while intoxicated and second-degree vehicular manslaughter and was taken into custody after being discharged from the hospital.
