Two EMS providers were injured and another driver was killed in the head-on crash

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Two Tennessee EMS providers were injured and another driver was killed in an ambulance crash Friday morning.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said the Gibson County EMS rig was struck head-on by another vehicle around 2:30 a.m., according to WBBJ 7.

The driver of the other vehicle, Evan Hixon, 29, was not wearing his seatbelt and was killed in the collision, officials said. The two EMS providers, who were wearing their seatbelts, survived with unspecified injuries.

Gibson County EMS posted a statement on Facebook thanking community members for their concern and prayers, saying, “We appreciate it so much and are grateful to have such a caring community.”

The Gibson County Fire Department also posted on Facebook stating, “We are thankful that our brother and sister with Gibson County EMS are doing well after a horrible accident this morning.”
