WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. — One Army National Guard medic died and another was seriously injured when a military ambulance crashed.
My Stateline reported that Illinois Army National Guard Sgt. Marcos Leonard Gudino was a passenger in a military ambulance that crashed in a convoy of vehicles that were driving home from a weekend training session in Fort McCoy, Wis.
The unidentified driver of the ambulance was listed in stable condition after suffering serious injuries in the crash.
“The thoughts and prayers of the entire organization are with Sergeant Gudino’s family and friends, and the soldiers who were closest to him,” Maj. Gen. Richard Hayes said.
Sgt. Gudino was based in Chicago and served as a medic since 2010.
