MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Mecklenburg EMS personnel stepped into a dark, smoke-scented “neighborhood” on a soundstage for an immersive simulation designed to sharpen skills for rare, high-acuity emergencies.

After nine months of research, planning and collaboration by our Clinical Education team, the space was transformed into a full-scale residential fire scene with projected video, fire-scented essential oils, built-out rooms and a live actor to recreate the stress and chaos of a real incident, delivering our most realistic training yet, with even more intensity planned for next fall.
