BURLESON, Texas — A child attempting to cross the street in Burleson on Wednesday was struck in the head by an ambulance as it was passing by.
Rescue workers responded at about 5:40 p.m. to the 300 block of East Renfro Street where the 11-year-old appeared to have non-life threatening injuries.
Preliminary reports reveal the ambulance was driving down the street with lights and sirens on, other vehicles pulled over to let it pass.
The boy, according to the Burleson Fire Department, thought they were allowing him to cross the street and that is when he attempted to cross.
The ambulance driver swerved to miss the child, but he was hit in the head by the side mirror of the ambulance.
He was transported to Cooks Children’s Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
