BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty FDNY paramedic was driving drunk and crashed into a car on Brooklyn’s Belt Parkway early Sunday. The car turned out to be an unmarked police vehicle with a highway cop inside.

Gerard Colvert, 30, was driving on the Paerdegat Basin Bridge that links Bergen Beach and Canarsie, when he allegedly hit the stopped, unmarked NYPD Highway Patrol car about 5:45 a.m., police said.

Both he and the cop suffered minor injuries. A breath test showed Colvert’s blood alcohol content was .113%, well over the .08% legal threshold.

Colvert was charged with DWI, reckless driving and driving with impaired ability.
