CANTON, S.D. — A South Dakota paramedic proposed to his boyfriend, a nurse, by surprising him during a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
Sanford Health Paramedic and EMS Supervisor Robbie Vargas-Cortes was scheduled to receive his vaccine at Sanford Canton-Inwood Medical Center on Dec. 23, and his boyfriend, Nurse Eric Vanderlee, would be the one to administer it, according to KCCI.
To Vanderlee’s surprise, when Vargas-Cortes rolled up his sleeve to receive the shot, there was a ring taped to his upper arm.
“Robby got his vaccine – and an enthusiastic yes from his now fiancé,” Sanford Health wrote in a Facebook post. “Congratulations, Eric and Robby!”
