REDDING, Calif. — A Union Pacific freight train struck and injured a woman who was hiking on the railroad tracks to Mossbrae Falls in Dunsmuir on Saturday.

UP spokesman Aaron Hunt said the woman was trespassing on railroad property when she was hit about noon. The woman was hiking with her husband and two children.

Siskiyou County deputies and UP police brought the unidentified woman to a waiting ambulance, and she was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta for treatment, Hunt said.

Her condition wasn’t available Saturday.
