TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa man is facing charges after stealing an ambulance and taking it on a joyride inside a hospital parking garage.
Police officers responded to St. John Medical Center on July 12 for a patient ran from the emergency room and stole an ambulance, Fox 32 reported. The patient was driving through the garage with the ambulance’s lights and siren on, hitting low-hanging signs.
“Lights and sirens on, hitting multiple low-hanging signs, eventually collided with one of the low-hanging pole barriers,” Tulsa Police Officer Danny Bean said. “That tells you how high you can get in there, wrecked the ambulance pretty good.”
Security officers at St. John’s were able to get the patient into custody. He was readmitted to the hospital for emergency care.
