Car carrying 4 gunshot victims crashes into Chicago ambulance; 1 dead

Four victims aged 17-34 were transported to the hospital with serious injuries after the crash

CHICAGO — A car carrying four people with gunshot wounds crashed into a Chicago Fire Department ambulance Saturday night.

Officials say the car was struck by gunfire shortly before 7 p.m., wounding all four people inside, according to NBC Chicago. The car then traveled a few blocks away from where the shooting occurred and struck a fire department rig.

The four victims were transported to the hospital after the crash; one, a 21-year-old man who was shot in the back and forearm, was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 34-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds was reportedly in critical condition at the hospital, and two other victims, a 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old man, were shot in the back and were in serious condition.

The crewmembers inside the ambulance were not injured in the crash. The shooting remains under investigation and no suspects had been taken into custody as of Saturday night.
