PEORIA, Ill. — Responders helped a man with hundreds of stings from a swarm of bees.
Your West Valley reported that the man was removing an abandoned couch from underneath an overpass when he disturbed a hive the bees had built in the couch.
Peoria Fire-Medical Department spokesman Tim Eiden said the victim ran from the bees for almost a quarter of a mile before lying down and covering sensitive areas of his body.
“Unfortunately, there were no areas of shelter for the man to run to,” Eiden said.
The man was treated on scene and taken by helicopter to the hospital in stable condition.
