ALAMO, Calif. — Emergency crews worked Sunday night to pull an injured East Bay Regional Park District officer out of a ravine in Alamo.

The officer, whose name was not released, plunged about 50 feet down the ravine near Camille Avenue and the Iron Horse Trail about 9:50 p.m., said park district police spokeswoman Shelly Lewis.

The officer was investigating the area after someone from the neighborhood reported hearing a person screaming, she said.

The officer was believed to have moderate injuries, Lewis said.

The San Ramon Valley Fire District participated in the rescue attempt.

A neighbor said she heard a CHP helicopter searching for the officer near her home, with a large spotlight illuminating the steep terrain on the cold night.
