NEW YORK — An EMS provider from Hatzolah EMS was stabbed in the back Tuesday night and police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
David Katz, 34, was stabbed while walking on a Brooklyn street in regular clothes around 8 p.m., New York Daily News reported.
“He was on an evening walk,” said Binyomin Lifshitz, a member of the local volunteer Jewish police. “The guy passes by him and stabs him and flees toward Nostrand. It was a very deep and large laceration.”
Katz is a volunteer EMS provider for the ambulance service mainly staffed by Orthodox Jews. He was in stable condition at Kings County Hospital, the New York Post reported.
