Woman falls near urgent care, told to wait for ambulance

Passersby held paper towels to a gash in the woman’s leg while she waited for an ambulance, instead of being cared for by urgent care staff

SPRING HILL, Fla. — A woman was seriously injured near an urgent care clinic, but was told to wait for an ambulance.

WPTV.com reported that Debbie Brewer fell down in a parking lot near Suncoast Urgent Care Clinic; passersby held paper towels to a gash in her leg while she waited for an ambulance.

A Suncoast Urgent Care representative said there were several reasons why staff did not help Brewer, citing the lobby was full of patients and staff could not see her; there was only one doctor working and the rooms were full of patients; they confirmed 911 had already been called and also confirmed with a doctor that Brewer should wait for an ambulance.

Brewer said she was thankful so many people rushed to aid while she bled profusely.

“I just can’t say enough that there are good people out there,” Brewer said.
