DAYTON, Ohio — This year, there have been 103 firefighters who have taken their own lives, according to the Firefighter Behavioral Health Alliance. It is a non-profit group which tracks fire and EMS suicides nationally.
Jerry Meddock, who is a member of the group, believes those numbers are only a fraction of real problem.
“We feel that on average, there is anywhere between 350 to 400 fire and EMS suicides each year,” said Meddock.
