Exhausted and emotionally drained EMTs quit Texas agency

The two overworked EMTs have been expecting new partners since April

ANSON, Texas — The two sole EMS providers for the city of Anson quit, saying they were overworked and understaffed. They had been waiting for a new staff member to join them since April but no one was hired, KRBC reported.

“We’re just emotionally drained,” EMT Brittany Cox said.

The EMS agency’s town would need at least 3 or 4 EMS providers; however, employees said they cover 80 percent of the town’s county.

“If you really had two calls a day that would be fine, but in reality we’re running 10 to 15 calls a day,” Cox said.

City officials said an EMS agency from Stamford, 15 miles away, would start covering the area.
