COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A paramedic who creates wooden American flags for veterans is now honoring two fallen police officers with his “Thin Blue Line” creations.

KDVR reported that paramedic and veteran Zachary Smith honors soldiers and politicians by creating wooden flags through his company, U.S. Veteran Woodworks, but recently switched gears to pay tribute to Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy Zackari Parrish and Adams County Sheriff’s Deputy Heath Gumm, who were both recently killed in the line of duty.

“More than anything I just want people to have something to remember them by,” Smith said. “We’re all brothers and sisters, so it doesn’t matter if it’s something that happened on the East coast or something that happened downtown, I’d still like to honor it the best I can.”

The flag honoring Deputy Parrish was sent to his family, and the flag for Deputy Gumm will soon be on its way.
