SAN FRANCISCO — Six people were shot and wounded early Wednesday after a hip-hop concert at a Mission District nightclub, San Francisco police said.
San Francisco rappers G-Val and Show Banga had performed at a sold-out, 18-and-over show at the Brick and Mortar Music Hall at Mission Street and Duboce Avenue when someone opened fire on a group outside the club at 12:46 a.m., police said.
Six people were hit by gunfire. One person was shot in the upper body while other victims were hit in their legs or arms, said a police spokeswoman, Sgt. Monica MacDonald. The shooter fled the scene before police arrived.
Paramedics rushed four victims to San Francisco General Hospital, where another person with a gunshot wound later showed up, MacDonald said. A sixth shooting victim was driven to a hospital outside San Francisco, she said.
Two of the victims had life-threatening injuries, authorities said. None of the victims was identified.
No arrests were reported, and police were investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
Show Banga, a rapper from the Fillmore neighborhood, released a statement on his Instagram account expressing frustration with the shootings.
“Me and G-Val was trying to do a positive event for our city and neighborhood,” Show Banga said.
He also tweeted, “One day these lil lames a grow up and wanna get some money instead of tryna beef all the time life so much bigger than that man smh.”
