Emergency crews extricate suspect stuck in between two buildings

The man was only wearing a trashbag after he led police on a high-speed car chase

SAN JOSE, Calif. — A man suspected of trying to elude police on foot after a highway pursuit had to be rescued by firefighters early Thursday when he became wedged in between two commercial buildings, authorities said.

Suspect Arturo Corona, 32, found himself trapped in an 18-inch space between a warehouse and store when he stumbled while jumping between rooftops, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

After being freed by firefighters, he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Corona – who was wearing only a trash bag -- claimed he got stuck while he was trying to escape two men who were chasing him with knives.

But police said that Corona led them on a high-speed chase that ended when Corona hit another vehicle, at which point he fled on foot.

Corona is being held on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving with a suspended license.
