BALTIMORE — Seven people were injured after a Baltimore bus reportedly jumped a curb at a bus stop and crashed into a shelter.
The 10-ton bus smashed so hard into the bus shelter that it was knocked six feet forward and twisted parts of the steel frame, according to ABC 2 News.
Maryland Transit Administration police said the accident occurred during a shift change between drivers. The female driver went to the back of the bus while the new driver was coming on board, and the vehicle started rolling forward.
The MTA told ABC 2 that after an initial review of video evidence, the accident may be a result of driver error.
The driver, a 15-year veteran of the company, will be tested for drugs and alcohol, following standard procedure for accident follow-ups.
