SHERWOOD, Ark. — Colleagues and members of the community gathered Sunday to honor a firefighter who was shot a year ago.
East Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department Lt. Jason Adams, 29, was fatally shot while responding to a medical call. The department unveiled a fire truck bearing his name; Lt. Adams had previously worked on the same truck to outfit it for the department in 2014.
“Probably one of the most dedicated firefighters I know,” Jodie Hartman, Sherwood battalion chief, told ABC7. “Always looking for the next best thing. Always going to classes. Like I said earlier, the guy would take classes four or five or six times, if it did nothing more than help someone else.”
At the end of dedication ceremony, Mayor Virginia Young announced that Sunday was Lt. Jason Adams Day, presenting the honor to Lt. Adams’ fiancee, Lt. Jeannie De Meyere, who also works at the department, reported the Arkansas Online.
