Community honors slain paramedic at funeral

Rebekah Hart-O’Sullivan was honored with flashing ambulances and fire trucks and remembered for her dedication to the EMS industry

CONCORD, N.C. — A paramedic who was allegedly shot and killed by her husband was honored with a large procession and funeral.

WSOC reported that Rebekah Hart-O’Sullivan, a MEDIC paramedic and relief operations supervisor, was honored with a line of flashing ambulances and fire trucks before the funeral at Concord First Assembly Church.

Hart-O’Sullivan, who was also a former Army paramedic in Operation Desert Storm, was remembered for her dedication to the EMS industry, and many residents said she saved the lives of their loved ones.

After the funeral, a last call was issued for Hart-O’Sullivan.

“The members of Mecklenburg EMS Agency wish to thank paramedic Rebekah Hart-O’Sullivan for her service to them to the assistance of Mecklenburg County, the state of North Carolina and to this great nation. Paramedic Rebekah Hart-O’Sullivan’s assignment was complete on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. Rest in peace, our sister. We will take it from here.”

Hart-O’Sullivan’s husband, Patrick O’Sullivan, is set to appear in court again Feb. 1.
