WAVERLY, Tenn. — The body of a firefighter who was missing for almost two weeks was found by a fisherman after crews searched for him for almost two weeks.

Fox 17 reported that Nashville firefighter Jesse Reed’s body was transported to the Davidson County Coroner’s Office after being recovered from the Tennessee River.

Officials began searching for Reed on March 6 when his truck plunged into the river.

Reed’s colleagues participated in a procession to take his body to the coroner’s office, along with the engine he worked on.

“It’s like a family, you’ve lost a member of your family, it’s very emotional and it’s a trying time in the fire department,” firefighter Walter Demonbreun said.

Officials said they hope to learn more about Reed’s death in an autopsy.
