STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 21-year-old man was arrested after impersonating an FDNY EMT and gaining entry to nonpublic areas of Richmond University Medical Center.
Christopher Litrell of New Brighton posed as an EMT “on multiple occasions” between Jan. 26 and March 26, silive.com reports.
He wore a sweatshirt that had EMS embroidered on the back and an FDNY patch on the left sleeve, according to the complaint. He also wore an FDNY cap and carried gloves, scissors and a stethoscope.
Litrell was able to access areas of the hospital closed to the general public, and accessible only to hospital staff and emergency personnel.
His actions were tracked on a security camera.
Hospital Spokesman William J. Smith said Litrel “had no contact with any patient whatsoever.”
Smith also said nothing was stolen.
Litrell was charged with criminal impersonation and criminal trespass. He was arraigned and released on his recognizance, and will be back in court on June 23. He also has an unrelated case pending from a Jan. 2 incident where he was accused of petit larceny and possession of stolen property.
