SAN FRANCISCO — Emergency rescue teams from around the Bay Area were participating in a simulated airplane crash in the Bay near San Francisco International Airport Tuesday morning.
The exercise, taking place between 9 a.m. and noon, will test the effectiveness of the San Francisco Fire Department’s new Bayside Marine Emergency Response Facility, which became fully operational in August.
A team of volunteers will portray passengers rescued from the simulated wreckage in the water, as well as family members and friends of those on board, airport officials said.
