Dear SCA Foundation Founding Members:
Thank you once again for your tremendous support as SCA Foundation Founding Members. Because of your confidence in our mission and vision from the very beginning, we are off to a fantastic start. The purpose of this memo is to provide a brief update, seek your input, seek your assistance in spreading the word about the SCA Foundation, and advise you of an upcoming meeting.
First, since January, we:
- Established a new national nonprofit organization;
- Attracted a strong Board of Directors comprised of nationally recognized leaders in emergency cardiovascular care, health and safety and development;
- Attracted an outstanding group of experts to serve on the Advisory Council including an SCA survivor and individuals with expertise in cardiology, electrophysiology, emergency medical services, non-profit leadership, psychology, public health, adult education, distance learning, marketing, and development;
- Secured start-up funding from multiple sources, including medical device companies and individual donors;
- Secured substantial in-kind contributions from friends and colleagues that have reduced operating expenses;
- Developed branding that we believe clearly establishes the organization as a neutral, science-based, humanitarian nonprofit focused exclusively on preventing death and disability from SCA;
- Created a comprehensive, information rich website, http://www.sca-aware.org that is undergoing continuous updates and enhancements;
- Created an online community for people personally affected by SCA to exchange information and provide emotional support;
- Conducted outreach to multiple state and national organizations and through the media to share information about our mission and to establish collaborative liaison relationships.
Now, as we move forward, we invite you to visit our new and improved website, http://www.sca-aware.org, and share any suggestions you may have.
