AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Travis County EMS was recognized by the American Heart Association as a Fit-Friendly Workplace at the Platinum Level.

The American Heart Association recognizes employers as Fit-Friendly Worksites for creating a culture of health in the workplace through progressive leadership and employee wellness initiatives. Companies must fulfill criteria such as offering employees physical activity support, increasing healthy eating options at work and promoting a wellness culture.

ATCEMS received Platinum Level status by meeting all Gold Level requirements and achieving the Community Innovation Award. Gold Level requirements include implementing at least six of the physical activity criteria, two of the nutrition criteria and one of the culture criteria in the application form. Community Innovation recognition is given to an employer who has developed and implemented an innovative program in the community.

Austin-Travis County EMS is one of only 36 worksites nationwide to achieve Platinum Level designation as a Fit-Friendly Workplace.
