In this session, the participant will learn about caring for the ill or injured child with the assistance of the primary caregiver: the parent, a sibling, a grandparent, or other responsible person. The concept of Family Centered Care focuses on utilizing the family member’s knowledge about the pediatric patient, which is invaluable and a lost resource if not tapped into early. Knowing the child’s medical history, whether or not they have allergies, and whether or not they have a chronic condition are but a few of the information nuggets that can significantly increase the quality of care being provided and ultimately improve the medical outcomes for our young patients.
