MANSFIELD, Ohio — A highway patrol trooper is being recognized for performing CPR and resuscitating an unresponsive 1-year-old.
Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Stoffer responded to the call in September, captured on just released dashcam video, for a speeding car driving with its hazard lights on.
Upon seeing the trooper’s vehicle, the child’s father pulled over and yelled to Stoffer that his daughter was unresponsive.
Stoffer called an ambulance and performed CPR. The child remained motionless but started breathing on her own during the resuscitation.
Mifflin Township EMS arrived soon after and transported the child to the hospital.
The child is in stable condition and Stoffer is receiving a Certificate of Recognition.
