LAKE LUZERENE, N.Y. — In Lake Luzerne, rescue squad members once had to move their ambulance at an emergency call to be able to get radio reception so they could communicate with dispatchers.
Warren County sheriff’s patrol officers often lose reception when using portable radios in Warrensburg, and firefighters in parts of Queensbury sometimes can’t communicate with dispatchers a mile or so away.
Warren County’s emergency radio problems have been well-chronicled in recent years. The federal requirement that emergency radio systems use less bandwith seems to have made the problems worse.
