DECATUR, Ala. — The state last month filed tax liens against Decatur Emergency Medical Services, the holder of a city-authorized ambulance monopoly, amidst reports of bounced payroll checks from an affiliated company in Gadsden.
The State Department of Revenue filed two tax liens against the ambulance service in December. Both involved taxes due for 2008 revenue. One was for $17,263 and one was for $9,508.
Barney Lovelace, attorney for Decatur EMS, said corporate officials contacted the Alabama Department of Revenue on Monday and “confirmed the company has resolved the issues involving the recently filed tax liens.”
