SIDNEY, Ohio — A man was arrested Saturday after stealing and crashing an ambulance.
A patient stole the Sidney Fire Department ambulance from a patient loading zone outside an ER and led police on a short-lived chase, reported the Sidney Daily News.
EMS crews had just unloaded the patient-turned-suspect from the rig and were restocking medical supplies when the man walked out of the hospital, got into the ambulance and drove off.
The suspect crashed head-on into another vehicle while driving on the highway. The suspect then fled the crash scene on foot and attempted to hijack other vehicles before police apprehended him.
Paramedics responded to the scene and rendered aid and transport for the driver of the vehicle that was struck head-on.
The suspect was taken into custody and is facing felony charges.
