NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Following an ambulance crash that left two paramedics and a woman injured, one paramedic has subsequently been placed on administrative leave.
Officials said surveillance video shows the ambulance running a red light prior to the incident.
A gas station security camera captured the crash and shows the ambulance running a red light before hitting a sedan, reported the Chicago Tribune. A second security video, recorded by a car dealership near the crash scene, captured similar footage.
“It looks as if the ambulance went through the red light while heading west on Aurora Avenue, and the Camry was going on Ogden at the time,” Jerry Iverson, a sales consultant at the dealership, said.
Following the crash, both paramedics and the woman were transported to the hospital; the paramedics were later released. The condition of the woman is not known.
The paramedic will remain on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
