Ambulance used to chauffeur student to a Denmark school gala

A uniformed driver for Falck ambulance is in trouble for driving a student to a school event with the emergency lights on

COPENHAGEN, Denmark — A driver for Falck ambulance is being asked to explain his use of an ambulance to drive a student to a school gala while in full uniform and with the emergency lights on.

After dropping off the student, the driver chauffeured another young boy home from the event, reported the Copenhagen Post.

“We would never – and I repeat never – permit something like that,” said Benny Jørgensen, head of Region Zealand’s hospitals. “Ambulances are for something completely different than chauffeur driving. Ambulances should only be used to transport severely ill people.”

Falck is astounded by the driver’s poor behavior and misuse of the vehicle. The driver has since been called for discussions with his boss, and Region Zealand has required a written explanation from Falck.
