SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — A man was fatally struck by an ambulance after he reportedly “darted out onto the roadway” early Monday.
Police said the 41-year-old man had been previously struck by another vehicle prior to being struck by the ambulance. According to a witness, the man was taken back to his hotel room and the crash was never reported.
EMS providers were transporting a non-critical patient when the incident occurred, according to Detroit News. The ambulance, which did not have its lights and sirens activated, attempted to swerve and brake to avoid the man.
The incident remains under investigation.
