2 men killed in wreck with ambulance in Fla.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Two men were killed early Saturday morning in when their car was hit by a Marion County ambulance on U.S. Highway 41 near Dunnellon.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said a Honda Civic CRX collided with a Marion County Fire Rescue ambulance at about 2 a.m. Satuday at the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 328 near Dunnellon.

Twenty-seven-year-old Justin Corey of Beverly Hills, Fla., and 27-year-old Ryan Doyle, of Connecticut, died at the scene. No one in the ambulance sustained injuries.

The ambulance is from the Rainbow Springs Station 22. It was returning to the station after transporting a patient to Shands Hospital in Gainesville when the accident occurred. Troopers said the ambulance was not in emergency mode and was not transporting a patient.
