UNION CITY, N.J. — Two EMTs were injured Monday morning after an ambulance collided with an SUV.
The ambulance had its lights and sirens activated and were responding to a call for mutual aid when the two women in the SUV allegedly did not hear or see the ambulance, according to ABC News.
The EMTs in the ambulance were rushed to a local hospital and are in stable condition, according to the report. The two women in the SUV were also taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Witnesses say the crash happened very quickly and the sound of the vehicles colliding was very loud, according to the report. The collision was so violent that it flipped the ambulance onto its side. The SUV jumped the curb and ended up crashing into the front window of a pizza shop, according to the report.
