FRIENDSHIP, N.Y. — You are a resident in the town in need of an ambulance. The ambulance arrives and takes you to the hospital or the crew tends to you on-scene. When it is time to pay for the service, you have the chance to pay by credit card if you wish.
Med Ex, a billing company the town of Friendship contracts with proposes giving patients this option. This would apparently mean a $10 per month charge to the town, plus a 22-cent transaction fee and a variable percentage fee from 2.9 to 3.9 percent.
Town Board members discussed the matter at their regular monthly meeting Wednesday night and decided to talk about it more at the next meeting in April.
