In this week’s episode of Inside EMS, co-hosts Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson discuss a Detroit EMT who was fired after refusing to respond to an infant in cardiac arrest. The infant later died.

Detroit Fire conducted two internal investigations, during which EMT Ann Marie Thomas said, “I’m not about to be on no scene 10 minutes doing CPR; you know how these families get.”

Grayson says EMS has a duty to respond, and there’s no excuse for neglecting to do the job. Cebollero also wonders whether Thomas should be held criminally liable, and the legal impact that would have on both her and Detroit Fire.
