NEW YORK — A street will be named in honor of a slain FDNY EMT who died last year.
NY Daily News reported that FDNY EMT Yadira Arroyo, a 14-year veteran of the department and the mother of five sons, was killed March 16, 2017, when Jose Gonzales, a suspected gang member, pulled her out of her ambulance and ran her over.
Street signs at Boston Road and E. 169th Street will be co-named for Arroyo on June 15 at 11 a.m.
“We are thankful for her sacrifice and public service,” Bronx City Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson tweeted.
Gonzales, 25, who has a history of mental illness, was recently found fit to stand for trial for the death of Arroyo.
