TEANECK, N.J. — A “mystery” EMT is being credited with saving a man whose heart stopped, but no one knows who he is.
Teaneck Daily Voice reported that the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps is searching for an anonymous off-duty EMT who revived a 50-year-old man before slipping away with no credit or recognition.
A bystander called 911 while the unknown EMT performed CPR, according to TVAC Public Information Officer Larry Robertson.
Robertson said the EMT was nowhere to be found when first responders arrived to treat the victim, who was transported to the hospital.
“This call was an example of how effective bystander CPR is and how immediate care can change a patient’s outcome,” Robertson said. “We would like to thank the unknown EMT who initiated CPR to save the patient’s life but who left before receiving any credit and thanks. We’re hoping to find that person.”
