Boston EMT helps suicidal person off bridge

The EMT stopped the ambulance en route to the hospital to save a person who seemed determined to jump off a bridge

BOSTON — A Boston EMT is being commended for saving a person who seemed determined to jump off a bridge on Friday night.

Christopher Baril was transporting a non-urgent patient to the hospital with another EMT when he saw a person climbing over the barriers of a bridge in South Boston, the Boston Globe reported.

Baril stopped the ambulance and got out to see what the person was doing. He then grabbed the person and pulled him away from the barrier.

Baril called another ambulance to pick the person up and waited until the vehicle arrived.

A spokesperson for Boston EMS said the recognition was well deserved, “EMS doesn’t get quite as much love for the stuff that they do.”
