HENRY COUNTY, Va. — Henry County has been awarded two grants, including one that will allow the county to create a paid, 13-member EMS squad.
At Tuesday’s Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting, County Administrator Tim Hall announced that a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant for which the board approved an application in October has been approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).The $1,355,829 grant will cover the cost of 13 new EMS personnel for two years, Hall said, as well as the squad’s training coordination expenses.
