PROSPER, Texas — Firefighters and paramedics will handle deliveries to local recipients of Meals on Wheels [this] week during the annual March for Meals campaign, Prosper Fire Chief Ronnie Tucker said.
“Our firefighters will be visiting some very special folks in the area to deliver their meals,” Tucker said. “We’ll visit some elderly home-bound residents and make sure they get something to eat. Fortunately, they know we’re coming, so it won’t be a surprise to them.”
In addition to providing meals to seniors, the March for Meals campaign brings attention to the problems of senior hunger and isolation, and celebrates the work of more than 5,000 Meals on Wheels programs in the U.S.
