In this week’s Quick Clip, co-hosts Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson answer a question sent by email by an Inside EMS podcast listener.
The question posed this week is: is stepping over a patient OK? And should it ever be done?
“There are very few absolutes in health care,” Grayson said.
Cebollero agreed, saying you must do what is best for your patient in the moment.
“I’ve not stepped over patients because there was the dogma that you don’t do it, and I’ve stepped over patients because the need was necessary and I had to do it to deliver good patient care,” Cebollero said.
Cebollero continues to say that he tries to minimize stepping over patients as much as possible.
“I think that there are good and bad’s to it,” he said. “But you, as the practitioner, do whatever you need to do to deliver the highest quality of patient care.”
