Va. man charged with stealing ambulance

The man remembers mowing his lawn after drinking beer and taking a triple dose of his anti-depressant

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. — A man was charged with his second DWI in just one week after he stole an ambulance and took it for a joyride.

“Even if I was actually drunk … really drunk, who in their right mind would get in an ambulance and just go south, you know what I’m sayin’? I mean, where was I going to go, the beach?” Glenn Huddleston said.

Huddleston was found by state police driving the ambulance and swerving on the road, reported WWMT.

According to Huddleston, the last thing he remembers is mowing his lawn after consuming several beers and taking three times the dose of his anti-depressant. The only explanation he can think of for taking the vehicle is that he was trying to test the brakes.

“Somebody decided to go for a joyride for many hours, and the equipment came back in good shape, thank goodness,” Campbell County Rescue Squad Captain Steve Coleman said.

The rescue squad plans to pressing charges.
