BAYOHNE, N.J. — A part-time Bayonne EMT has been charged with death by auto and driving while intoxicated after police say he slammed his car into a Union City man on a Bayonne street [on March 23], police said.
Jeremy Steinman, 22, of North Brunswick and a part-time paramedic at McCabe and other EMS companies, was driving north on Broadway at roughly 10 p.m. when he swerved into the southbound lane to pass a car, then swerved back into the northbound lane, police said.
He then struck a Jeep Cherokee as Heriberto Lithgow, 21, was getting into a back seat, police said. Lithgow, his sister and his mother, and his mother’s boyfriend, were just leaving Bayonne after having dinner at a local restaurant, police said.
