JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — An EMT died after falling into the Illinois River.

KTVL reported that David Struewing, 24, was pronounced dead on the scene. Bystanders tried to revive him with CPR before emergency crews arrived.

Struewing was an EMT with AMR.

“He was already making friends and proving himself to be a hard worker and dedicated to his EMT position here,” AMR paramedics supervisor Ken Hughes said. “He was constantly learning and moving forward and he will be missed.”
