SENECA FALLS, N.Y. — A man is facing charges after officials said he used his position as a 911 dispatcher to obtain personal information about a woman he is accused of choking and threatening.
WHEC.com reported that Steven Farnsworth, 36, a Seneca County dispatcher, is charged with official misconduct and unauthorized use of a computer. He is also facing domestic violence charges. He’s accused of choking a woman along with other “physical violence” on several different dates.
Farnsworth was arrested on April 1 and charged with harassment, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies found during their investigation that Farnsworth used the 911 computer system to obtain personal information about the victim. The access happened between October 2015 and March 2016.
Farnsworth was arraigned on the charges and he has since resigned as a dispatcher.
